122 / SUMMER RECAP

I can't believe that summer is already over. I had an amazing time exploring not only my city but a good chunk of my country as well. My original plans for this summer included me taking a road trip out to Newfoundland but I ended up going in the exact opposite direction. My parents and I ended up driving across the country in their RV to visit my brother, Derek, in Alberta. It was my second time making the trip out there but I was fortunate enough to be able to do a bit more exploring this time. We stayed overnight in each of the provinces (and a few states) that we traveled through. It was great to see my brother and we took a day trip up to the West Edmonton Mall together. The mall has been somewhere I've dreamed of going for a long time and I'm happy that I get to cross it off of my bucket list.

The rest of my summer was spent running all over my city, Ottawa, with my friends. I went to a handful of concerts (Shania Twain, Drake and Kanye), went on a few day trips out of town (Montreal, Sandbanks) and I spent a good chunk of the season either at work, at home, or with friends. Summer 2015 was definitely one for the books. Although I'm sad it sped by so quickly, I'm excited for my favourite season, autumn, to commence.

NINETY-NINE/ farewell to target canada

If you live in Canada, I'm sure you've already heard the news. If you haven't, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this. Please don't shoot the messenger.

Yesterday and today have been rough for me and I'm still coming to terms with the news. I feel as though someone is playing a sick joke on me. I try to hide from it, but it is plastered just about everywhere. Less than two years after Target opened up shop in Canada, they announced that they are making a departure and that they are going to close all of their 133 stores in the Great White North, leaving about 17,600 Canadians out of work.

GIVING THANKS

For those of you who don't know - this past weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada. If you're unsure of what that is, it's basically a weekend to give thanks to everything you're fortunate to have in your life. It's a time to spend with family and friends, to reflect on everything good in your life and to eat yourself into a food coma.
