150/ AUTUMN EFFECT

Tomorrow is technically the first day of autumn but it really doesn't feel like it. Although the mornings have been relatively chilly here, it's in the high 20's by the time the afternoon rolls around. I'm absolutely sick of it. The autumn season is short here in Ottawa, but it's by far my favourite and I can't wait until it is in full effect.

I wore the look pictured below on the only day chilly enough for me to do so. I bought the army green jacket on my most recent trip to Florida and I can't wait to get more wear out of it. I love how lightweight and easy to wear it is. It's a piece that I can just throw on and go. I don't really have to think about what I'm pairing it with and honestly, that's what I look for the most when buying my outerwear.

EIGHTY-FOUR/ autumn '14 lust list

I can't believe it has been over a month since I've blogged. A lot is going on in my life right now so I haven't had the chance to actually document my outfits of the day and I haven't had a second to sit down and write a post. Truth be told, this summer is flying by right before my eyes. It seems as though I always have an excuse up my sleeve as to why I haven't updated, but believe me when I say that this summer has been hectic for me. Even my Instagram has been lacking in content. My life should be back on track by the end of August or for the arrival of autumn; I always look at a new season as a new start. Like always, I apologize for my absence and I will make an effort to keep updating this blog. I haven't given up yet, and I refuse to in the future.

As for right now - I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of autumn. It is by far my favourite season (for fashion and otherwise) and pictured below are items I'm currently lusting over for when the leaves change colour and start to fall. There's just something about leather goods and perfumes/colognes that seem to mesh so well with the colder months and shorter days, don't you think?

* I understand that L'Homme by YSL's target audience is men (its called L'Homme for godsake), but that doesn't really mean anything - it smells intoxicating on all genders. I highly suggest you go and smell it if you haven't already, I'm positive you'll fall in love.

SIXTY-THREE/ the perfect autumn day

This past Sunday Laura and I went on a bit of an adventure. It began with a stop at local farmer's market. It was amazing to see the beautiful colours of the locally grown produce and the vendors who were so proud of their work. We didn't pick up much, just some lunch (curry for Laura and a coconut lentil soup for me) and a bottle of apple cider to take back home. It was a gorgeous day, although you can't really tell from the black and white pictures. The sun was shining and the air was even a bit warm, it was the perfect autumn day.

After the farmer's market we stopped over at the Antique Show that was going on over at Carelton University. The people who were putting it on were gracious enough to give both Laura and me free passes. With Laura being a fiend for vintage and with me loving all things designer, it was definitely a hit between the two of us. I was drooling over vintage Chanel bags, Ferragamo pumps and Gucci accessories. Laura was lusting over a pair of gorgeous pony hair Dolce & Gabbana pumps and vintage housewares. Unfortunately, I didn't leave with anything. I really couldn't decide what to leave with and we didn't have much time. I guess I'll just have to save my money for the Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show coming up on November 10th.

After the antique show we ran a few errands and grabbed some dinner with our friend, Michael. It was definitely a busy Sunday but I had a ton of fun. I'm so happy the weather cooperated with us for the farmer's market and I have to make it a point to go a few more times before it closes down for the winter.
