SIXTY/ cheers to new beginnings

September was such a stressful month for me and I'm so glad that it is finally over. It was so stressful in fact that I have officially dubbed October as my 'month of new beginnings'. Out with the old, in with the new / what happened in September, stays in September / kill them with kindness - these are things that I keep repeating over and over in my head until it seems like second nature.

So far October is looking pretty promising. Keeping in tune with the whole 'new beginnings' motif, this past weekend Laura and I went to our good friend's wedding reception. It took everything in me not to burst into tears when we first saw the bride - she looked like a princess. Her strapless dress was nothing short of perfect, her shoes were white Converse-esque that donned her new last name in silver rhinestones and she even wore a tiara. Laura and I had a blast dancing, eating and toasting to the newlyweds. I wish them a world of happiness and a wonderful life together. Cheers to new beginnings!

Getting ready for the reception was an absolute nightmare though; I just about tore apart my closet trying to find something perfect to wear. I was under the impression that you weren't supposed to wear black to a wedding (I don't go to very many of them, okay!) so I was trying to find an alternative. Thanks to my family, specifically my sister-in-law, I decided to wear black anyway and decided on this outfit. Looking back, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The pictures don't really do this jacket justice, the fit is just divine and the colour combination is something that dreams are made of. I decided on flats vs heels because I'm totally a flats girl, and I decided to wear my hair up for the first time in what seems like forever.

THIRTY-THREE/ floral pants

I'm not going to waste anybody's time with a long sob story as to why I haven't been posting lately. There really is no reason other than my own laziness. I have been working just about every day, and the weather sucked, but that's really no excuse. I've been receiving emails and asks on Tumblr about my absence but I have no idea what to tell people. Truthfully, I thought no one would notice if I were to disappear online for a little bit. It's been so amazing reading all of the responses to my lack of posts and I do promise to make more of an effort in the coming months.

I have been dedicating my life, or so it seems, to just wearing all black and white everything lately. Every so often I feel the need to completely break from that habit and step out of my comfort zone with bold colours and prints. Today was one of those days.

I bought this green/blue coat and these awesome floral printed jeans on a whim while shopping a couple of weeks ago. I went to the mall with my best friend just for something to do and I fell in love with both pieces. The coat was on super sale so obviously I just had to have it, and these jeans caught my eye the second I walked into Winners. The jeans are definitely not something I would normally wear but that's what I love about them. They are just so bold and colourful, and although I'm wearing them now, I can't wait to wear them in the spring. They help me step out of my comfort zone and when I wear them I feel a bit more confident (not that I really needed the boost, but it's a nice bonus).

TEN/ floral maxi dress

I have been living in this dress for the last couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure my friends, family AND coworkers are tired of seeing it... but I reaaaallly don't care! I can swear to you, right now, that I'm going to live in maxis this summer. Maxi dresses and skirts are just about the most comfortable pieces of clothing imaginable; they are just the easiest thing in the world to throw on as well, and they always look flawless. I can't remember the last time I was -this- excited over an article of clothing.
