152/ 90's x 90's

This is a 90's inspired outfit to go with my new 90's inspired hair. The fuzzy sweater paired with the dainty floral patterned dress and Dr. Martens boots is a great combination. I've been feeling very uninspired with my wardrobe lately but I can always depend on an all black outfit to make me look fab and feel comfortable.

My new hair is my new favourite thing. I had to get a haircut, I absolutely hated it at the length that it was at. I have a lot of hair, and it's extremely thick, so it can be very difficult to manage. It's a lot easier to style when it's at this length and I couldn't be happier about that. Although it's not the most drastic change, I'm still really thrilled about it.

SIXTY-EIGHT/ a series of selfies

I've always been a bit of a risk taker when it comes to my hair, so when I made a (much needed) hair appointment this past week, I knew I had to walk out of the salon with something fresh and new. My new do was done purely out of impulse and I'm still having a bit of trouble adjusting to it. I do find myself growing more and more comfortable with the length and style of it daily; I'm hoping that I'll fall in love with it by the end of the week. I'm sure it'll grow on me. (pun intended)

FORTY-TWO/ ombre

The last time I dyed my hair was SEVEN years ago. This is a startling fact for me because for starters, how did I get this old? and secondly, what was I so afraid of? I'll be the first to admit my hair history is a bit gruesome and I was always taught to learn from the past and to try to never repeat it, but I'm so happy I took this risk. Laura dyed it for me and we stuck with just the tips for this time around. To be 100% honest with all of you, we first bleached it and then dyed it purple. The purple has since washed out and all that's left is the bleach. Don't get me wrong, I actually do like the blonde but my heart is still set on purple and it will be redyed ASAP.

As for my outfit, the majority of it actually comes from the United States. I go on many cross border shopping trips with my mother and that's where I usually find my favourite pieces. (I'll do a post about the differences between shopping in the States and shopping in Canada eventually.) These pants were an awesome JC Penney find and the Calvin Klein blouse is something I grabbed from TJ Maxx. I bought both my jacket and Toms in Canada though and they are two pieces that I could truly not live without. If you don't own at least one denim jacket, I really don't know what you're doing with your life... I suggest you find yourself one (thrift stores always have a ton!), you will be living in your denim jacket for years to come. You may even recognize the jacket from these posts - 1, 2. I also spoke about Toms a few time on this blog as well. They are an absolute necessity in my wardrobe. I have a few pairs of them now and I dare you to find a more comfortable shoe. I've tried a countless number of alternatives because I used to absolutely hate how they looked but I'm proud to say that I'm completely turned around on them.

STYLE ICON SATURDAY/ six

ROBERT SMITH

Need I say more?
This man fulfills every hair, lipstick and gothic fantasy I have ever had.
He is everything I want to be style-wise and more.

This is pretty embarrassing but sometimes when I get ready for an outing (be it work, shopping, a bar) I ask myself "what would Robert Smith do?". And then I just throw on whatever colour of lipstick that is suitable, tease my hair into a mess and then I'm good to go. He is forever one of my biggest inspirations, and I'm 100% serious. The majority of people think I'm joking around when I tell them about my undying love for this man, The Cure or his style. I think what really sells me on his aesthetics is his hair. It's no secret that I love big, teased, hairsprayed, messy locks and his hair is just perfection in my eyes.  Many of you are probably reading this and questioning my reasoning behind all of this, and that's fine.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
